The New Sofa has Arrived!

After months of searching I finally found the right sofa. I had always heard good things about the quality of Flexsteel sofas and a few towns over from where I live there is a cute quirky furniture store that happens to carry the Flexsteel line. I decided on the Everly sofa with the more traditional wood legs, but even after finding the right sofa it still took two additional trips to the furniture store to find the right fabric. I chose a blue fabric with a simple square pattern which will hopefully camouflage both baby and furbaby stains. The wood finish that I choose for the legs is what I would consider kind of middle of the road. Not too dark and not too light that it won't match the other furniture in the room. My goal for the living room is to have a room with classic style leaning more towards the traditional yet is still comfortable and welcoming.

My dog Tinker was the first to enjoy sitting on the new sofa. The blue fabric is shiny so the camera flash messes with the color a bit, but it's a close match to Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage.

Right before we signed on the dotted line for the sofa I warned my husband that buying the sofa would only lead to more changes in the living room. If you have ever read the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie as a child than you know what I mean. If this case if you give an Iffer a sofa she is going to want a coffee table, and once she has a coffee table she is going to need a floor lamp to go with it.
I love this coffee table from Ethan Allen, however, I am not in love with the price tag of $799 and the finish is a bit too dark so the search continues.

My husband wants a rectangular coffee table, but I'm leaning more towards an oval table since I don't want our little one to accidentally bang her head on the corner of the table. I thought one compromise might be to purchase a rectangular ottoman/coffee table. That way my husband would still get the rectangular coffee table he wants and the top would be upholstered so I wouldn't have to worry about the baby bumping her head on the table. But we'll see. If we do end up going with a rectangular coffee table, I've got my eye on the Pottery Barn Como coffee table that's on sale right now for $299. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for the coffee table please let me know. Thanks!

Conflicted

I was all set to DIY a knock off set of three Restoration Hardware prints (see earlier post) for the nursery, but then I saw some great vintage baby clothes online and thought that it might be a neat idea to frame vintage baby clothing instead. I was thinking about buying vintage baby booties, a baby bonnet, and some sort of top or dress and then framing them individually and using them as the art for the nursery. So what do you think, DIY prints or framed vintage baby clothing? Please use the poll on the upper right hand side of the screen to place your vote!

Decisions, Decisions

49 days and counting until my due date. Yikes! My husband and I have almost everything ready for when the baby arrives. One of the last few things that we have yet to do is order crib bedding. I put the crib together while my husband was in Alaska since I could not wait to see everything come together. However, the crib is still sitting in the corner of the room empty besides the bare crib mattress. There are so many great choices for crib bedding that I am having trouble deciding on which to choose.

This is the Jenny Lind crib that we have. I have been happy with it so far. It was easy to assemble and when I found that one of the pieces was bent I was able to get a replacement piece shipped to me for free with absolutely no hassle.

Instead of buying the bumpers that come with the crib bedding sets, I have decided that I would rather buy a breathable mesh bumper like this one made by Breathable Baby. I have finally narrowed it down to three crib bedding options, all of which have the pink and green color combination that we will be using in the nursery. I have added a poll to the top right hand side of my blog. It's my first poll and I would love to get some feedback on the three choices shown below:

Choice #1:
Winter, Spring, Summer or Patch Percale Crib Bedding from Land of Nod.

Choice #2:
Lucy Crib Bedding from Serena and Lily.

Lucy Crib Skirt.

Choice #3:
Ruby Crib Bedding from Serena and Lily.

Ruby Pillow, Blanket, and Diaper Changing Cover.
