February
White dishes set against white subway tile above white and gray marble counters and white cabinetry and a smattering of white accessories should look like overkill, but I like the clean simplicity of this kitchen.

Valentine's Day was awhile ago, but I still wanted to share some of my favorite Valentine's Day ideas from the pages of Martha Stewart Living.

These shadow boxes are a simple creative way to turn something like children's stubby used crayons into a keepsake.

Most of the January and February issues of the home decor magazines focused on organization since it is the time of year when many people resolve to become more organized while others get the itch to start spring cleaning early.

Most people would probably put a mirror this gorgeous over their mantel or maybe even over a table in the entryway of their home if it is large enough to accommodate a mirror that large. However, the ornate mirror hung over the stainless steel range definitely makes a bold statement with all that gleaming metal and silver and gold leaf. I also like the Gothic touches such as the antique chandelier over the table in the kitchen and the wood panel and headless statue in the entryway.

Wallpaper can be a real pain to remove, but who would ever want to get rid of wallpaper as beautiful as these metallic damask patterns.

Feathers, rosettes, ruffles, crystals, and tulle (lots of it); all seem to be trendy right now. Good news for all those girly girls out there.

January
Storing extra bathroom necessities in clear glass cylindrical vases makes it easy to see when your running low on things like soap or cotton balls as well as being a stylish and simple way to keep things in your linen closet organized and easily within reach.

Usually dining tables in the kitchen are kept out of the way of the main work areas, but this table and benches (informal and cozy alternative to chairs) are right in the center of it all.

Purple: feminine, bold, happy, moody, regal, unexpected...love it.

December
Yes, I know I'm behind on my blogging and Christmas is long past, but I still wanted to share my December magazine favorites especially anything chartreuse, blue, or silver since those are the colors I use for Christmas decorations in my home.

The bathtub in this home is definitely rustic done right. The wood around the tub is in keeping with the finishes throughout the house while still making the bathtub look like an enticing place to soak and relax.

I think this Juliska Pewter Stoneware, as seen in the pages of House Beautiful's Dec/Jan 2010 issue, would look striking intermixed with white stoneware.

I love the holiday party ideas in Midwest Living. Not only are these ideas budget friendly ($150 for a 12 person party), but I love the party colors since they're similar to my Christmas colors, and I adore that mercury glass cake stand. Then again I love mercury glass anything.

Show ribbons and trophy cups were a big trend this year and this puppy Christmas theme is definitely a winner with show ribbons in traditional Christmas red and green and trophy bowls filled with shining green and red ornaments.
